Meaning	The son of Fulcher. An American variant. The son of Folker or Fulker. This name is in Camden's small list. Fulcher, 'lord or people.' For history of Folker, one of the champions of Burgundy, 'the mighty fiddler of Alsace.' The English form was more generally Fulke. Camden defines the name, "Foulgiers, Fearne" (fern). 'Fougeres,' local, a town of France, near the frontiers of Normandy. This town has given its name to a noble family. Raoul de Fougers fortified the town, and built the castle.
